Product Usage:
1. Acetylsilane is more reactive than alkoxysilane.
Acetyloxysilane is often used as a single component mixture to manufacture RTV-1 silicone sealant. These mixtures added an excess of multifunctional acetoxysilane to PDMS terminated with silanol, resulting in the end of PDMS chains carrying acetoxy groups. When the compound is exposed to moisture, some acetoxy groups are hydrolyzed and self condensed or react with other acetoxy groups and undergo rapid crosslinking. The formation of acetic acid is one of the driving forces behind this reaction
