Silicone gel IOTA-5118AB

Description

IOTA-5118AB is a low viscosity addition type two-component room temperature curing silicone gel, which has good fluidity before curing. After curing with a mixing ratio of 1:1, it can be quickly thermally cured to obtain very low hardness silicone gel. This silicone gel is completely transparent, has good viscosity on the surface, and has excellent mechanical damping properties.

IOTA-5118AB can change the mixing ratio of AB components, according to different application conditions to obtain silicone gel with different hardness to meet different application requirements.

Surface treatment

All substrates to be constructed should undergo surface cleaning procedures to ensure that the silicone gel can be cured normally. The substances that cause abnormal curing of silicone gel mainly include sulfur-containing substances, plasticizers, polyurethanes, ammonia-containing substance phosphorus-containing substances and organometallic compounds (such as tin, lead). When it is not known whether the surface of the substrate is toxic or not, a small amount of substrate should be selected for curing test.

 

Mix procedure

IOTA-5118AB has a catalyst in the B component and a crosslinker in the A component. The two components can be mixed in a 1:1 ratio by volume or mass. In the process of mixing or dispensing, air bubbles will be generated, so it needs to be defoamed by a vacuum defoaming process.

 

Curing

IOTA-5118A/B can choose different curing temperatures according to different application conditions. The higher the temperature is, the faster the curing speed will be. You can choose 25 ºC, 100 ºC, 150 ºC and other different curing temperatures.

Storage

The IOTA-5118A/B is kept in the original sealed packaging and can be stored at 5-30ºC for at least 6 months. If it exceeds the shelf life, it can be used with caution after passed the quality test of main technical data.  

NOTES

1. IOTA-5118A/B must ensure that it does not contain catalyst poisons such as phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), nitrogen (N), organotin (Sn), water, polyurethane, and acrylate compounds during use and storage. Direct contact to avoid curing obstruction and deterioration.

2. Only same batch components A and B can be mixed together to use.

3. When dispensing glue by hand, pay attention to the cleaning of mixing tools, especially to avoid contaminating agent A or agent B in the glue bucket through the dispensing tool.

4. The mixed glue should be used up within the specified time. Generally, the glue mixed by hand should be used up within 1 hour; and the glue in the automatic glue mixing machine should be discharged regularly, otherwise the glue will not be cured easily.

5. IOTA-5118A/B is sensitive to heat, and high temperature should be avoided during storage and operation; after use of agent A and agent B, the unused glue should not be poured into the original packaging to avoid contamination of the unused glue.

6. After the two-components of IOTA-5118A/B is mixed, the gel will slowly solidify at room temperature. Before use, the product should be weighed after determining the amount to be used to avoid waste.

7. If the gel is too soft or sticky, a harder gel can be obtained by reducing the amount of component B. The A:B ratio can be 1.1:1, 1.2:1, 1.3:1, 1.4:1, 1.5:1, 1.6:1, etc.

8. If the product needs to be dyed, you can add the required dye to the product and mix it evenly to get different colors of silica gel.
