Description

IOTA 9118 is a liquid polysilazane with a Si-N structure, the main functional bonds are Vi. It is specially for high temperature resistance coating systems. IOTA 9118 has low viscosity and good adhesion, can be applied to various types of substrates by smearing, dipping, spraying, brushing and other methods, the main substrates are metals, alloys, glass, paint films and plastics (such as PP, PC, PVC, PMMA), etc.

Curing conditions

1. High temperature curing

a. without catalyst:Heating temperature:250ºC-350ºC

b. add Peroxide type thermal crosslinking agent:Heating temperature:120ºC-180ºC

c. add platinum catalyst:Heating temperature: 80ºC-100ºC

2. UV curing:add Cleavage type photoinitiator

The cured coating perform well in indoor environments, but the toughness of the coating will turn to be weak after 400ºC.

 

Notes

   The main functional group in IOTA 9118 is Vi, that will make the liquid to be light yellow, meanwhile the special additive in IOTA 9118 will get the same effect. But The cured coating will be colorless and transparent after the curing process(the additive will be released).

   IOTA 9118 will generate the coating film with no hardness, poor adhesion and transparency after 3 days cured in room temperature.

   IOTA 9118 could be cured with high temperature, it will reduce the heating temperature and curing time by adding the thermal crosslinking agent,which has no effect on coating hardness, color, adhesion and other properties.

   The UV cured coating of IOTA 9118 perform well in room temperature, but the high temperature resistance is poor as cured by UV, the coating will turn to be yellowing when the temperature up to 300ºC+.

   The operate temperature of IOTA 9118 coating is related to the film thickness. The higher thickness, the better protective performance, but it easy to crack in high temperature.

 

Cracking conditions

IOTA 9118 cured product converted to amorphous ceramics by high temperature cracking, eventually get crystalline ceramics. It is amorphous product below 1400 ºC, begin to crystallize above 1400 ºC. Ceramic product composition has great relationship with cracking atmosphere, SiC and Si3N4 under nitrogen or argon; mainly Si3N4 under Ammonia; mainly SiOCN under air conditions.

In addition, the cured product cracking is easily influenced by filler, and result affects the composition of the final ceramic product.

 

Compatibility

The product could be miscible with most non-polar solvents, such as alkanes, ethers, ketones, esters. Insoluble in alcohol and ether solvents, such as diethylene glycol dimethyl ether, diethylene glycol dibutyl ether, tetraethyl ether Butyl glycol ether.

It's also miscible with a variety of resins, such as epoxy silicone resin, silicone resin, it will shorten the curing time and improve resin hardness when mixed with silicone resins.

 

Operation Methods

Operating and storing in a dry, cool and well-ventilated environment, away from heat and fire sources, the recommended temperature is 0-20ºC.

The gloves, masks, etc. is necessary when taking the product.

Uncured product should not be placed close to fire sources, humid air, or water.

The container must be replace the air with nitrogen/argon and completely sealed in time after use.

Unused product that has been formulated cannot be recycled and should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Products beyond the shelf life can be used only after the retesting complied.

 

Package

Packed with metal container in 100ml, 1L and 5L.

 

Clean

Proper cleaning methods are important, quickly wipe down the surface with acetone or mineral spirits after use.

Once IOTA 9118 is cured, the coating cannot be washed away by solvent.

 

Precautions

The storage environment should be dry, cool and well ventilated, away from heat and fire sources. The packaging container must be kept tightly closed and handled with care. The storage temperature should be kept between 0°C and 20°C, and the storage period is 12 months.
